Interceptive Orthodontic Course

Learn how to diagnose and manage orthodontic problems during the mixed dentition stage.

This course provides a clinical approach to monitoring dentition development and offers early intervention strategies to prevent or minimize complex malocclusions in adolescence or adulthood.

Course Overview – Monitoring Dentition Development:

  1. Skeletal Problems
    Identify jaw discrepancies (Class II or III skeletal patterns) and determine the optimal timing for orthopedic correction.
  2. Space Problems
    Assess space loss due to early tooth loss or crowding, and learn how to manage it using space maintainers or expansion techniques.

  3. Eruption Problems
    Detect ectopic eruptions or delayed teeth, and understand when and how to guide normal eruption patterns.

  4. Bad Habits
    Explore the impact of habits like thumb sucking, mouth breathing, or tongue thrusting on craniofacial development and how to address them early.

  5. Hypodontia
    Recognize congenitally missing teeth and learn how to manage space and plan future orthodontic or prosthetic treatments.

  6. Impacted Teeth
    Identify early signs of impacted canines or other permanent teeth, and understand diagnostic and interceptive treatment options.

  7. Functional Mandibular Shifts
    Diagnose functional deviations caused by occlusal interferences and initiate early correction to prevent skeletal asymmetry.

Dr. Omar Yousry Mostafa

Orthodontist – Lecturer at Cairo University MSc, PhD in Orthodontics – MOrth RCSEd (UK)

Dr. Omar Yousry Mostafa is a highly qualified academic and clinical orthodontist. He graduated with honors from the Faculty of Dentistry, Cairo University, in 2010 and began his career as a resident in the university’s orthodontic department.

In 2016, he completed his Master’s degree in Orthodontics, and in February 2018, he obtained the prestigious Membership in Orthodontics (MOrth) from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

Dr. Omar is currently a Lecturer in Orthodontics at Cairo University and also serves as a lecturer and clinical instructor at Perfect Braces Academy (Egypt). He is dedicated to advancing orthodontic education and mentoring dental professionals in modern and interceptive orthodontic techniques.
